Peope from Calvary collection agency have been calling my mothers house without identifying themselves for the past few weeks, even though they have been repeatedly told I do not live there. I have never heard of calvary portfolio agency before, and had to look them up on the internet just to find out what the company actually did, and whether it was a reputable company or just a phone scam intending on stealing my identity. When I called the number that was provided to find out who was calling my mothers house asking for me and why, they told me the name of the company, but when I asked what they did there they would not tell me what their business was or what the purpose of the calls was. I was asked for my name, when I gave it, I was told that there were many people with my name and asked for my Social Security #. When I informed the person that I was not comfortable giving my social security number to an anonymous entity over the phone, they hung up on me.

2. Written by Nicky Knuckles, on 07-06-2008 19:17 Hey, I'm starting a new collection agency call The Goombas Collections Inc. Pay your *** bills or we'll break your ***' legs.

4. Written by Chip, on 07-06-2008 19:14 no one you know-- you say you work for a legit agency and are implying calvry is not? Have you ever considered the ***-head deadbeat is lying to you or stupid? You should know these people make all types of excuses to not pay debts. Did you bother asking him to provide proof he paid the debt and that would close the matter? What about a business to business letter enquiring if that information is factual? The person is either lying to you or paid another debt to cvlry and is too retarded to know the difference. "I paid this already" The oldest trick in the book.
5. Written by e1r3mom, on 19-05-2008 18:49 I have had alot of problems with these idiots. As of March 2008 they had 2 accounts of mine. One was for 609.00 and they settled for 200.00 so I thought they would work with me on the other amount of 383. No they wanted 250.00 does that make much sense to you? So I called the original creditor and they settled for 90.00. CPS are idiots they buy your old debt for .025 on the dollar and want full price If your paying it there gonna take it! |
6. Written by no one you know, again, on 14-05-2008 00:01 also, it is totally legal for a collector to call your mother, or any other third party just to ask for updated info- or to get a message to you if they have reason to believe this is acceptable. They are not allowed to discuss your debt, or use 'collections' in the name of their company- they must tell you THEIR name/alias if licensed, and their company name or alias (if collections is in the company name). THE REAL JAY, you know what? there's probably someone in the U. S. with the same name as you. Unless you verified some sort of information like your SSN, which is used to file credit reports, or an address, or they have concrete reason to believe you owe the debt (such as you admitting you owe the debt and dont feel like paying), they can't place it against your credit. The best defense is to check your credit regularly and check the laws before losing your *** over your own unpaid bills (or someone elses when the collector uses directory assistance and gets you as a possible listing)
7. Written by no one you know, on 13-05-2008 23:56 i work for a legitimate collection agency. one of the accounts that i have, the man keeps screaming he has paid calvary for this. this is a client that only my collection agency has ever worked with. calvary never had their account. this mans credit has not been updated as paid and we still must pursue him for collections, he will not listen, because -hey- he paid SOMEONE. Legally, if a debtor requests proof, you must give them proof. They dont ask YOU to give them your SSN, but if they have it on file, which is common, they may ask you to confirm the last 4 numbers, or other identifying data (address, etc.) to make sure they're not talking to a third party or someone else named Bob A. Smith. Check out the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and keep yourself informed. Record any and all conversations but be advised that there are at least a dozen states where you must tell the other party that the call is being recorded for it to be legal and admissable. Harrassing, oppressive, and abusive language is not to be used- as well as threats to your reputation by way of informing a third party of your debt. Debt is embarrassing, but don't bother chewing out the law-abiding collectors for doing their job and trying to protect your credit score. Pay your *** bills, please! But if it's some scam company like calvary, tell them where the bears sh** in the buckwheat, thx
8. Written by the real jay, on 07-05-2008 17:45 i received a call from this company today regarding a fraudulent account opened by someone who stole my identity and they hung up on me and removed my phone # from the account but still have my name listed on the account. say hello to my lawyer....
9. Written by CTpissedoff, on 25-04-2008 14:10 This is for Ethan, man please don't give them anymore money! These people are fraudulently trying to bankrupt America with this collection agency scam of theirs. The best way to stop them is to let them go bankrupt, so again Ethan, DON'T GIVE THEM ANYMORE MONEY!!!!!
10. Written by Jimmy Nguyen, on 22-04-2008 17:57 What a bullshit *** company! People who work there are complete idiots probably making less tha minimum wage. They lack real power/real job so act tuff over the phone because obviously they didn't make it in the police force. RELAX! Your job is pointless! You're getting paid to collect money for someone else, hence you're being pimped! Dumbass!
